WebMCP goes live in ChatGPT Desktop as OpenAI pushes it as default for MCP Apps

WebMCP is now enabled for MCP Apps in ChatGPT Desktop, and OpenAI is collaborating with the MCP team to make WebMCP the default way agents interact with MCP Apps. MCP is the open standard connecting AI apps to external systems — calendar/Notion access, Figma-to-webapp codegen, enterprise database chat, even Blender-to-3D-printer workflows. Defaulting to WebMCP marks a key step toward a seamless agentic web where web apps are natively callable by agents.
