METR corrects public record on Anthropic agreement, softening redaction-rights claim
BethMayBarnes · x · 2026-10-21
METR's Beth Barnes publicly corrected the description of METR's agreement with Anthropic, in line with the org's process transparency policy. Anthropic's original announcement (reviewed by METR) described its redaction rights as limited to "narrow, predefined categories" like customer data, privileged info, or model architectures. Barnes felt this overstated METR's affordances; the text was revised to drop "narrow" and add detail, even though the correction is unflattering to METR.
