Seth vs Chalmers round 3: substrate-dependence has strong reasons, BBS collection open access till Friday
anilkseth · x · 2026-10-21
Anil Seth responded to Chalmers' latest press, conceding the arguments for substrate-dependence (2) and noncomputational theories (3) are inconclusive but rejecting "speculative": he thinks there are strong reasons for (2) and at least some good ones for (3), sketched in the Nature paper and developed far more extensively in his BBS Journal collection.
He also notes the whole target paper + commentaries + response collection is temporarily open access until Friday the 23rd, and quips it's a shame Chalmers couldn't contribute a commentary.
