Samsung Electro-Mechanics signs $260M substrate deal with Micron as AI shortage spreads down the stack

Samsung Electro-Mechanics signed a long-term agreement with Micron to supply BT and ABF substrates for enterprise SSDs, worth about 360.5 billion won ($260M) covering all of 2027 — its first-ever LTA for package substrates, bringing this year's LTA total to 7 deals and roughly 4.3 trillion won.
The poster reads this as the AI-driven shortage moving down the stack: surging demand for FC-BGA substrates for AI server GPUs, CPUs and chiplets has prompted 4.27 trillion won in Sejong FC-BGA capacity and 2.51 trillion won in Vietnam facility investments, with total spending expected to exceed 8 trillion won.
