Aleksander Madry returns to OpenAI to work on superintelligence safety alongside Merytm

Sam Altman announced that Aleksander Madry is returning to OpenAI to take on safety and security work. Madry says his departure a few months ago turned out to be more of a sabbatical: he then prioritized making AI more useful, but AI progress has entered a regime where getting safety and security right for increasingly capable AI must be a central priority. He'll join Merytm to chart a path through these challenges. Altman says the safety challenges on the road to superintelligence are immense and Madry's skills fit the task.
