VectorDash Rewrites Windows Search in Rust, Adds Local Reverse Image Search and AI Chat
andy2na · reddit · 2026-10-21
An indie dev's major update to VectorDash, a local-first universal search tool for Windows: rewritten in Rust with under 100MB idle memory. New features include a full searchable clipboard manager, local reverse image search powered by EmbeddingGemma 2, NTFS USN journaling for incremental indexing, and an AI chat layer supporting OpenAI-compatible LLMs, indexed file search, an MCP server, and beta computer/browser use. Web search, STT/TTS, and 13-language localization round it out; all extras are optional, positioning it as an Everything/Windows Search replacement.
