Kling 4.0 is live: native 30-second AI video, extendable to 2 minutes
lmoroney · x · 2026-10-21
Kuaishou's Kling 4.0 officially launched Oct 15 with:
- Native 30-second generation for long takes and continuous storytelling, plus extension of existing videos up to 2 minutes
- Omni Reference: up to 15 reference assets (10 images, 5 videos, 7 subjects) and 10 keyframes for planning specific moments
- 8,000-token prompts for fuller creative briefs
Author Laurence Moroney argues the reference/keyframe controls matter most — long clips are only useful if characters stay consistent. Filmmakers on the animated feature Minibots say working with Kling 4.0 "feels increasingly like directing a film rather than prompting an AI." Adobe says the capability is coming to Firefly; the piece also covers the Austin AI Film Festival winners and Runway's CEO on AI replacing actors.
