Math educator Alex Kontorovich praised 3blue1brown's (Grant Sanderson) long video on the future of mathematics, saying he couldn't find a single flaw and would send it to every PhD student and postdoc.
Markus Baumann disagreed: the optimism reads like finding a silver lining as math becomes 'the new humanities' — stripped of economic value and status, left with only 'do it for the love of it.' He also questioned the claim of transferable skills, noting AI is replacing those skills in other fields too.
