OpenAI admits Pro 500 allowance bug, compensates user with $1,000 in credits

A Reddit user shared an official OpenAI email admitting that a bug prevented their weekly Codex and Work usage allowance from increasing when they upgraded from Pro 200 to Pro 500 — the account kept the old plan's lower allowance.
OpenAI says it fixed the error on October 16 and added $1,000 worth of credits (25,000 credits, expiring January 20, 2027) as compensation, separate from the regular weekly allowance. The poster admits they hadn't even realized they were getting shortchanged.
