Getty Images files for Chapter 11 after 99.96% market-cap collapse amid AI pressure

Getty Images will restructure under Chapter 11 and go private by year-end. Once worth nearly $11B after its 2022 SPAC listing, its stock has collapsed 99.96% to $0.014. $2.1B in debt, a $110M lawsuit payout, and a failed Shutterstock merger (costing $100M+) piled on top of AI-generated imagery eroding demand — annual subscribers fell 25% in a year. The Getty family and Koch-backed investors will inject up to $533M. Its editorial imagery business (+9.2% YoY) remains the last moat against AI.
