A $895 product taught him: the $99 lite tier attracts his worst customers
kylegawley · x · 2026-10-20
Indie developer kylegawley shares a pricing lesson: adding a $99 lite version to his $895 product brought in exactly one lite customer — his biggest headache ever — whom he refunded the same day before removing the tier. Customers paying $895+ have all been easy to serve, many he never hears from, while cheap customers tend to be the most demanding and support-heavy. His takeaway: being cheap is not an advantage.
