Drop a PowerShell script in a folder and it becomes an MCP tool — live, no restarts

Doug Finke, 16-time Microsoft MVP, will demo PSMcpServer, a native PowerShell streamable-HTTP MCP server, at a Meetup. Point it at a folder of scripts and it reads the param blocks, builds tool schemas, and serves them. With -Watch, the folder stays live: add a file and the tool list updates; edit a signature and clients get notified — no restarts, no glue code.

Highlights: existing modules become tools; pipe Get-Command into one cmdlet to get a curated tool config; a few lines of PowerShell render sortable tables and live forms inside chat (no HTML/JS); and the kicker — an agent that can write scripts into that folder can extend its own toolbox mid-session. He also built the whole thing largely via AI, including handing the hardest bug to a computer-use agent that dug the fix out of the logs.
