Google appears to be dropping the AI Overviews label from some desktop search results

Search Engine Roundtable's Barry Schwartz reports that SEO consultant Glenn Gabe spotted some AI Overviews losing their AIO label: desktop knowledge-panel-style AI summaries (for shows/movies queries) show no label, while mobile keeps it for the same feature. Most AI Overviews are still labeled.
Schwartz suspects a bug and has reached out to Google. If intentional, it would further blur the line between AI-generated and organic results, directly affecting SEO/AEO tracking and traffic analysis.
