DeepSeek open-sources DeepInfer, the inference framework behind its production API
lxfater · x · 2026-10-20
DeepSeek released DeepInfer (Apache-2.0, 7.2k stars on day one), the high-performance inference framework powering its large-scale production services — addressing why self-hosting open weights often costs more than the official API.
Core capabilities:
- Multi-GPU parallelism to split compute
- Speculative decoding: draft candidate tokens, verify in batch
- Tighter request scheduling to cut idle time
- Structured output support (e.g. JSON)
Currently targets DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash on both NVIDIA SM100 and Huawei Ascend 950. Full cache management and cross-replica load balancing are not yet open-sourced, so it's not a turnkey recipe for replicating DeepSeek's service — but it's a rare production-grade reference for inference optimization work.
