Smart TV liberation: why TV OS modding may be the first AI intervention regular people love
joshwhiton · x · 2026-10-20
The author argues the recent smart TV hacking wave deserves to be a global holiday — possibly the first AI intervention ordinary people can easily appreciate. It insults design sensibilities, violates privacy, and locks elderly users into UI purgatory. Manufacturers can either treat modding as apocalypse or embrace fully programmable hardware that empowers customers — which companies lean which way, we're about to see.
