Codex Pro user logs 170 server_overloaded failures on Windows in one month
kekewang001 · ghdev · 2026-10-15
A ChatGPT Pro ($200/month) subscriber reports persistent intermittent failures in Codex Desktop on Windows 11 since September 10, 2026 — dominated by "Selected model is at capacity" errors and remote compact task failures. Switching models, reasoning effort, or starting new conversations doesn't reliably help.
A read-only analysis of local session logs (Sept 10 – Oct 12) found:
- 278 JSONL session-log files scanned
- 200 structured task-completion error records, 173 distinct failed turns after dedup
- 170 classified as serveroverloaded, 2 other, 1 unauthorized
OpenAI Support confirmed the account wasn't blocked by exhausted usage limits, yet the issue remained reproducible as of October 15, 2026, seriously disrupting real engineering work.
