Dev writes takedown of Speak's billboard: learning language without speaking isn't like driving from the back seat

Developer ethanniser walked past a Speak billboard every day until he couldn't take it anymore: the ad claims "learning a language without speaking is like learning to drive from the back seat." He photographed it and wrote an essay arguing the analogy is wrong — language acquisition research broadly supports the value of massive comprehensible input, and a listen/read-first approach before speaking is a normal, effective path. He contends Speak pushed the analogy to extremes to sell its speak-from-day-one product pitch.
