Agent eval blind spot: revoke access mid-conversation and test what leaks
jylusdev · reddit · 2026-10-20
A developer proposes adding a mid-conversation access revocation case to agent evals: a user retrieves an incident note, loses project access, then asks for another detail in the same session. Fresh retrieval may be blocked while an old snippet, memory entry, or cached answer remains available. Three paths should be tested separately: a follow-up in the existing conversation, the same question from another account via a shared cache, and a run that starts before revocation but answers after it. For each, record the applicable policy, the evidence supplied, and when authorization was checked — a refusal on new search doesn't prove the session or cache respects the change. He asks where enforcement belongs: retrieval, context construction, or the response boundary.
