A Reddit user benchmarked Google's Nano Banana image models with official prices plus actual billing, as of Oct 19, 2026.

Official per-image pricing (USD): Nano Banana 2.1: $0.0336 (1K) / $0.0504 (2K) / $0.113 (4K); Nano Banana 2: $0.067 / $0.101 / $0.151; Nano Banana Pro: $0.134 / $0.134 / $0.24; 2.1 Lite: 1K only at $0.0336.

Actual billing (Atlas Cloud API, same product-poster prompt): 2.1 charged $0.04 at 1K, $0.06 at 2K, $0.112 at 4K (1m27s, slowest); Lite was fastest at 9s; Pro cost 3.5x more and added a stray period while leaving the mug empty. Reference: GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst 1024 medium at $0.011.

Recommendations: default to 2.1; 1K/2K is plenty for screens; reserve 4K for print or heavy crops; Lite for bulk thumbnails; keep Pro only for tuned prompts.

Cost-cutting tips: batch tier halves 2.1 prices; draft at 1K, finish at 2K; generate a 2x2 or 3x3 grid in one 4K image and crop it into 4-9 images (expect softness and seams).
