Hermes Agent power patterns: Telegram topics as identities, skills via Git PRs, GitHub App webhooks
granawkins · x · 2026-10-20
The author runs a Hermes agent on each of several VPS projects and shares practical patterns:
- Telegram group Topics as identities: each topicid maps to a skill file defining the agent's role (Admin, Engineering, Growth, project-specific curators), plus a 'Humans Only' topic the bot reads but never replies to.
- Skills in Git: keep skills in the repo at .agents/skills/, keep a spare checkout symlinked into Hermes' skill location; the agent proposes skill updates via PR.
- GitHub App + webhook: fire off a new agent whenever it's tagged in a repo.
He's also soliciting ideas on memory systems, Granola-like tools, and voice mode for Hermes.
