Anthropic's Felix Rieseberg: general models keep absorbing custom AI agents' capabilities
Olivier__OG · x · 2026-10-20
Felix Rieseberg of Anthropic (via Silicon Valley Girl Podcast, relayed by OG Lens) makes a pointed architectural argument: capabilities that once required highly specialized AI systems are increasingly absorbed by general-purpose models as they improve.
Custom agents won't disappear, but builders should question how much complexity they're layering around today's model limitations when tomorrow's model may simply solve the problem. His litmus test: are you building a custom agent because the workflow requires it, or because the model can't do the job yet? Sometimes the smartest AI architecture is the one you don't overengineer.
