Peloton's $100M air freight lesson: AI's insatiable demand won't last forever
SumitGup · x · 2026-10-20
vitaliyk revisits Peloton's pandemic playbook: with demand it couldn't meet, the company at one point spent $100 million on air freight alone and committed $400 million to build its own factory; management was forced into many suboptimal decisions to satisfy customers. Today the customers are gone but the decisions (and debt) remain. His argument: the same will happen in AI — demand is insatiable now, but nobody knows how long it will last.
