Three US superclusters match all of Europe's AI compute; Colossus to hit 2GW+
NinaDSchick · x · 2026-10-20
Nina Schick lays out how US AI compute superclusters now compare with the entire European continent:
- Three US superclusters already match all of Europe's AI compute: OpenAI/Microsoft's Stargate campus in Abilene, Texas alone equals 20% of European AI compute (also used to train Astra); Elon Musk's SpaceX/xAI Colossus sites spanning Memphis, Tennessee and Southaven, Mississippi equal roughly 60% of all EU+UK compute (used to train Mythos and Grok).
- The Colossus complex is on track for 2GW+ of compute capacity by end of 2026 — more than all of Europe combined.
