Superconducting brain-inspired chip processes 1M fusion plasma samples per second

Brookhaven National Laboratory, with Princeton Plasma Physics Lab, DIII-D and Colorado's Great Sky, built a first-of-its-kind superconducting neuromorphic chip dubbed "Super Intelligence".
- Uses superconducting circuits to mimic biological neural networks;
- Lab tests show it processes 1 million fusion plasma samples per second;
- Detects abnormal plasma behavior and predicts instabilities fast enough for potential real-time control of future fusion reactors;
- Plasma runs at 100–150 million °F, 10x hotter than the Sun's core, making real-time monitoring essential;
- A 10x larger version is in development for testing in 2027.
DIII-D director Richard Buttery called it the first tokamak data processed with such a chip.
