Open-source meeting voice agent joins Zoom/Meet/Teams and answers aloud
AssemblyAI · x · 2026-10-20
AssemblyAI and Recall.ai open-sourced a complete, runnable meeting voice agent: a Recall.ai bot joins Zoom, Google Meet or Teams calls, streaming a webpage as its camera and mic, wired to AssemblyAI's Voice Agent API to listen, think and speak.
Highlights:
- Hears the whole meeting but only speaks when someone says "agent"; accepts pre-call files (PRD, proposal, notes) for Q&A, checks weather, and leaves when asked
- One WebSocket for speech-to-text, LLM and voice; short-lived tokens keep API keys out of the browser; far-field Voice Focus works on laptop and room mics; tool calls supported — even leaving the meeting is one
- Code and docs on GitHub; requires Node.js 22.18+, ngrok static domain, and both vendors' API keys
