Ex-Amazon staff tag AI-written docs 'AI;DR' — a rule for when AI should draft
lmoroney · x · 2026-10-20
Steve Huynh, who spent nearly 20 years at Amazon, writes that colleagues tag suspected AI-written six-pagers "AI;DR" (AI, didn't read). His proposal: let AI draft freely where mistakes are easy to undo, keep human writing and reading for irreversible decisions. Laurence Moroney adds a habit — before sharing an AI-assisted draft, write the three-line decision summary yourself from memory; if you can't, the draft needs more of your thinking.
