Compound launches PE Bench, first AI-agent benchmark for real private equity work, beating Anthropic and OpenAI frontier
peterjliu · x · 2026-10-20
Compound has released PE Bench, billed as the first benchmark evaluating AI agents on real private equity work: diligence, investment models, IC memos and decks across 5 data rooms.
- Methodology: models are tested with each lab's own harness to reflect day-to-day use, and each task has a generous 1-hour time limit that penalizes slow models.
- Among single-lab systems, Anthropic and OpenAI sit on the efficient frontier for finance work, but Compound claims more Pareto-optimal points by combining models from multiple labs, open/custom models, and its own multi-agent harness and tools — including Compound Office, a Rust reimplementation of MS Office.
- The company serves customers with over $3 trillion in combined AUM.
