Show HN: Open-source phonics reader with MCP lets LLMs import your kid's books
zoozla · hn · 2026-10-20
A parent built an open-source early-reading app for his 6-year-old: kids click any word to sound out phonemes and read stories on their own, with the first story written by his 12-year-old son under Creative Commons.
The reader includes an MCP connection, so you can hook up Claude, ChatGPT or Grok and import books from a PDF or phone-camera scans into private, click-to-sound-out versions. Free to use on the web and fully open source.
