A usage analysis by @fleetingbits suggests Anthropic researchers use research agents about 4x as much as OpenAI researchers on average, with usage at both labs doubling roughly every 35 days since May.
Peter Wildeford adds that across a variety of indicators, OpenAI appears to be about two months ahead of Anthropic on the same exponential curve — a sign that AI-assisted research workflows inside frontier labs are scaling fast.
