For agents SaaS is just code — exec argues vertical SaaS moats are collapsing
matt_slotnick · x · 2026-10-20
Matt Slotnick says he's 'becoming positively nihilistic about software': you used to buy SaaS because you weren't a special snowflake — generic tools were good enough and building your own wasn't worth it.
But for agents, SaaS is just code: you no longer need vertically specialized data stores or workflow engines. In a twist of fate, the very reason you bought SaaS is now the reason you won't — a structural threat to vertical SaaS moats.
