$0.08 test finds DeepSeek's new search API scores by host, leaks spam despite filters
gaganghotra_ · x · 2026-10-20
SEO consultant Suganthan tested DeepSeek's newly opened Search & Fetch API ($0.75/1k calls per endpoint). Findings: authority scores (0-4) behave like host scores — his whole site scored 1 while spam PDFs on .gov/.edu hosts scored 4; the promised SEO-spam filtering let government and university hosted junk through; and the Fetch API crawls as Firefox from Huawei Cloud Hong Kong, ignoring robots.txt disallows. A notable release for SEO/GEO practitioners, but with plenty left to fix.
