AI companion app Tolan has raised $30M from USV and Khosla Ventures, bringing total funding to $60M.
Co-founder Quinten Farmer previously sold his last company to Walmart, then opened a pizza place and kept bees before building Tolan, an AI "guardian angel." In the podcast he explains the philosophy — "I have zero interest in helping you write your work emails" — and argues Silicon Valley loves AI assistants because they're "legible to the average investor."
