Intel's Crescent Island GPU D270: A 160GB PCIe 5.0 Inference Card
lemire · x · 2026-10-20
- Intel is making AI accelerator cards: the GPU D270 (Crescent Island) is a PCIe 5.0 card engineered for inference, essentially a graphics-card variant tuned for AI.
- It uses 32 Xe cores, each mixing vector engines with specialized XMX matrix engines, and ships with LPDDR5X memory—about 160GB standard, up to 480GB.
- The open question is pricing, which will determine how directly it challenges Nvidia in inference.
