An ex-Apple engineer released Biscotti: a free, account-less, fully local meeting recorder for macOS, with source available on GitHub.
Features
- Recording, transcription, and AI all run on-device, works offline, data never leaves your Mac
- No bots — records Zoom, Teams, Meet, FaceTime, Slack huddles, or in-person conversations
- Speaker-separated transcripts with automatic cross-meeting voice recognition
- Built-in MCP server: chat with meeting notes in Claude Desktop ("What did Sarah and I agree to last time?")
- Calendar-aware, auto-stop on call end, voice isolation, language detection, full-text search, Granola/CSV import
How it was built: native Swift/SwiftUI app, with Claude Code writing all the code — audio capture, on-device model pipeline, SQLite FTS, and the MCP server — using his open-sourced spec-driven development skill /spec (scosman/vibe-crafting). Even the demo video was made with Claude Code via his Videowright framework.
Requires Apple Silicon (M1+), macOS 15+, 16GB RAM recommended.
