Open-source ai-memory gives Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and 20+ AI coding tools a shared memory
alex_verem · x · 2026-10-19
The open-source ai-memory project (11k GitHub stars, MIT license) adds a unified long-term memory layer for AI coding agents: quit a task halfway in Claude Code, open Codex, Cursor or Gemini CLI in the same folder, and it picks up where you left off — including what was tried, what failed and what's still open.
Key points:
- Works with 20+ tools: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, Grok and more
- Memory stored as plain text files you can open, edit or move anywhere
- Records what happened in the background, so you never have to ask it to remember
- Self-hosted on your laptop or home server, follows you between machines
- Designed to fix siloed per-tool memory and ease handoffs between different agent vendors
