I4R Recruits 125 Researchers to Verify AI-Generated Forensic Reports on Sports Science Papers
RexDouglass · x · 2026-10-19
The Institute for Replication (I4R) is recruiting 125 graduate students and PhD-holding researchers for "virtual forensic AI games."
- Each participant receives an AI report flagging reproducibility concerns, data irregularities, and coding errors in a published sports/exercise science paper
- The task: verify the AI report's findings and write a short, fully human report
- Sample: 125 articles from journals like Scandinavian Journal of Medicine & Science in Sports and Psychology of Sport and Exercise
- All participants get co-authorship on a meta-paper combining the analyses
Timeline: reports due Nov 2–13, 2026; peer review by Nov 20; author/journal responses by mid-January 2027; preprint submitted February 2027. I4R is also releasing its open-source AI Audit Protocol.
