Scumble: open-source layered AI inpainting editor built on your own ComfyUI
Direction_Mountain · reddit · 2026-10-19
The author released Scumble, a GPL-3.0 desktop AI image editor (Electron, Windows/Linux) entered into Comfy's Open Source Higgsfield challenge.
Key features:
- SAM2 selection in-app, prompt-to-generate, results land as real layers you can mask, blend, filter, move, and export to PSD/ORA.
- FLUX 3 box prompts: draw boxes, describe each, model places content exactly; works locally with FLUX 3 Klein (ComfyUI 0.41+).
- Relighting with up to 4 virtual lights over a Depth Anything V2 depth map with soft shadows, plus depth-based lens blur, haze, 46 film looks.
- Three generation routes: your own ComfyUI (local or RunPod), Comfy Cloud API v2, or Comfy Router pay-per-run.
- An assistant with 114 MCP tools so Claude or any agent can drive the editor.
Honest caveat: one-person project, Linux build barely tested.
