Amazon open-sources TorchNeuron: PyTorch code runs natively on Trainium with one config change
PyTorch · x · 2026-10-19
Amazon announced TorchNeuron, letting existing PyTorch code run natively on AWS Trainium chips with a single configuration change and no rewrite. It will be open-sourced at the PyTorch Conference North America on October 20.
- Context: 85% of AI researchers write PyTorch; porting to new chips historically meant months of rewriting and revalidation
- TorchNeuron dramatically lowers friction for adopting Trainium hardware
- Already used by startups and enterprises in robotics, video, world models, self-driving, speech, drug discovery, LLMs and finance
