AI fake songs are hijacking real artists' Spotify profiles, and 404 Media submitted one in 5 minutes

AI-generated songs are being uploaded to real artists' Spotify and Apple Music profiles without permission, with scammers collecting the royalties. 404 Media tested the scheme and found a fake track could be submitted and distributed to major streaming services in about 5 minutes.
Smaller and inactive artists are particularly vulnerable. Spotify is now testing a release approval feature to address the problem.
