Animator's style test: image models hit good enough, hand-drawing delivers taste
lmoroney · x · 2026-10-19
Animator Sean Ward tested the old saw that AI gets you to good enough fast while your taste makes the difference. Early on THE GRAND OPENING, he gave an image model reference images of his characters plus multiple descriptions of his style; every result would have made a fine animated project, but he quickly realized the specific look he wanted meant drawing everything by hand. Laurence Moroney amplified it as a smart workflow: run five quick style explorations, note what each misses for your story.
