Codex browser permission bug: conversation-scoped denial overrides global Allow, no reset path
sagarrahedwas171r-ui · ghdev · 2026-10-14
openai/codex issue #53744: A user's local origin (http://127.0.0.1:8765) stays blocked in Codex's browser despite global settings allowing it.
Diagnosis found a persisted denial in the session-scoped TOML (denied = ["http://127.0.0.1:8765"]), which conflicts with the global config's allowed list. Read-only inspection of the Browser Use service shows a matching conversation-scoped denied origin is returned before global approvals — explaining why changing global permissions to Always Allow didn't help. The author asks OpenAI for a supported way to revoke conversation-scoped denials and whether Browser Settings should expose or reset them. No permission files or security state were modified during diagnosis.
