Google.org announced the 17 recipients of its AI Impact Challenge, targeting problems from disease prevention to mapping the natural world. Among them, the Allen Institute is using AI to design DNA that delivers treatments directly to the brain cells most vulnerable to Alzheimer's and Parkinson's — with everything open-sourced. Arc Institute is doing notable work here as well. The sharer notes these diseases touch nearly every family and credits the researchers dedicating their careers to them.
