Agents Expand the Attack Surface: defenders now need 24/7 automated defense too

Security veteran dinodaizovi draws a parallel: in the early 2000s we learned not to expose vulnerable Windows boxes to the internet even for minutes, then the same applied to Linux hosts with guessable SSH passwords — and now AI agents have expanded automated attack pressure to more of the attack surface. Quoted user @thdxr reports nonstop automated attacks on their systems for 48 hours, noting everything is getting hardened but defenders "basically need agents going 24/7, because that's what they have."
