Google's Gemini deletes all chat history if you turn off data sharing
cyber_red0028 · reddit · 2026-10-18
A Reddit user on the $200/month AI Ultra plan discovered that consumer Google accounts face a stark choice: let Google access all chat contents, or press a single button to disable it — which immediately deletes all chat history and disables history storage entirely.
He only survived because he happened to request a data export three days earlier. The tradeoff ("no privacy or no history") applies to non-enterprise accounts; he says he's switching to Codex's $500/month plan instead.
