Proposal: a community-built open dataset to fix broken video-editing LoRAs
Emergency-Shake4529 · reddit · 2026-10-18
A Reddit user proposes building an open source dataset for video editing, arguing that many poorly trained video LoRAs on Civitai stem from dataset setup difficulty and lack of know-how.
Common LoRA failure modes identified:
- Scale variance: LoRAs break when the key action occupies a different portion of the frame than in training data (e.g., background action); data augmentation is needed for scale invariance
- Denoising mismatch: LoRAs produce artifacts when used at different denoising settings such as upscale passes; checkpoints and LoRAs should be trained across tasks to retain multi-level denoising and texture/lighting preservation
The proposal: a community-maintained dataset so task-specific LoRA training also mixes in common tasks and runs against shared benchmarks, preserving or improving base model capabilities—potentially one day training a new model from scratch.
