Anthropic's new research report reveals a stark expectation gap between AI insiders and the public:
- Work replacement: Anthropic staff expect AI to handle 75% of their current work by 2030, versus 28% among US workers.
- Gap widens with difficulty: 91% of Anthropic staff expect AI to make a Nobel-level discovery by 2030, against 39% of the public.
- It's already happening internally: Anthropic's junior share of technical headcount slid from 21% to 14% while the company tripled in size; about a third of ML managers and a fifth of SWE managers say AI has them hiring less.
- Agent usage: its agents logged 6x human hours over the same period.
