Odin: browser-based debugging search engine pinpoints buggy file 93% of the time for under a cent
Massive_Capital9611 · reddit · 2026-10-18
A developer launched Odin, a debugging-focused code search engine (not an LLM wrapper): paste a public repo URL plus an issue or bug description, and it downloads, parses, and ranks functions to point at the code needing a fix.
- Runs locally: built on Tree-sitter (WebAssembly) and small local models (WebGPU), so code never ships to a cloud LLM.
- Benchmarks: on 300 real SWE-bench Lite issues, the correct file appears in the top-10 results 93.0% of the time and the exact function 79.4%.
- Efficiency: matches heavy Claude 4.5 agents' accuracy using models under 1B parameters, cutting per-issue cost to a fraction of a cent.
- Ships a GitHub Action that auto-comments likely-to-fix functions on new issues.
Open source, six languages, at allfather.dev; feedback welcome.
