Indie dev's 7 AI projects in a year: hiring agent flopped, WeChat automation custom gig made ~$14K

An indie developer reviewed 7 AI projects built over the past year and their revenue: financial copy-trading AI SaaS ($0), a personal AI assistant (abandoned, immature tech), a hiring agent ($0), a factory PLM system ($0), and restaurant delivery AI order-splitting (contract in negotiation).
The two that made money were narrowly scoped: a GEO agent that poisons ad placements into Douban-style apps earned tens of thousands of RMB, and a custom WeChat automation agent project brought in nearly 100K RMB.
Takeaway: projects tightly coupled to a concrete business that directly converts to cash beat building a generic "can-do-everything" agent shell.
