Dev ditches Claude for Argon after model gets stuck in fix loops at 85% of project
Deathnote_Blockchain · reddit · 2026-10-18
A hobbyist building a Linux distro for specific hardware details two months with Claude: Opus works well for well-defined, closely supervised tasks, and 'Fable' (on Max) impressed early on, helping build an R&D rig that tests display, audio and Bluetooth hands-free. But past 85% progress, Fable got stuck in loops — obsessively 'measuring' symptoms rather than writing driver code from scratch, iterating until each dogfood session revealed new breakage. He suspects an architectural aversion to high-output-token work. He's switching to Argon, which claims training for large messy technical-debt codebases. He also praises Claude Code's /remote-control for resuming sessions from a phone — something Gemini can't do.
