Trust in US medicine peaked in 2020, then fell across every survey
realmeetjames · x · 2026-10-18
Compiling Pew, Gallup, KFF and JAMA data, the author shows trust in US doctors, the CDC and scientists all peaked in 2020 and fell since: confidence in scientists 86%→76%, doctors' honesty rating 65%→53%, CDC confidence 85%→47%, trust in doctors & hospitals 71.5%→40.1%, medical system confidence 44%→36%. Yet people still trust their own doctor — it's the institutions above them they've walked away from. Different surveys, so compare slopes, not heights.
